Murphy’s varsity softball team extended its Smoky Mountain conference win streak to four game as they swept Rosman in the two game series.
The Lady Bulldogs played a home-and-home series against Rosman. Across the two games, Murphy combines for 14 runs and only allowed Rosman to score five runs.
Dogs win 8-1
The Lady Bulldogs opened the week with a 8-1 win over Rosman at home on March 24.
After the game started with a scoreless first inning, Rosman got on the board first with one run in the top of the second inning.
The Lady Tigers maintained their 1-0 lead until the bottom of the fifth inning when the Lady Bulldogs rallied for eight runs to take a large 8-1 lead.
They maintained the lead through the remainder of the game to earn the win.
Grace Ledford led the Lady Dogs with two runs scored.
Paisley Johnson threw a 94-pitch complete game, giving up one run on two hits. She struck out 13 of the 24 batters she faced in the win.
Dogs win 6-4
Murphy returned to the field Friday as they made the trek to Rosman, where they earned a 6-4 win.
Murphy got on the board early with one run in the top of the first inning. They then extended their lead with one run in the top of the third and two more runs in the top of the fourth.
Rosman then got on the board in the bottom of the fifth as Murphy led 4-1.
In the top of the sixth inning, Murphy extended its lead with two more run. Then Rosman fought back as they scored three runs.
The Lady Dogs maintained their 6-4 lead in the seventh inning as they won the game.
Friday’s win over Rosman was Murphy’s fourth straight conference win.
The Lady Dogs scored six runs on six hits, while Rosman scored four runs on seven hits.

The Lady Dogs return to the diamond at 4:30 p.m. today as they host Hayesville in their last game before spring break.
When they return, they will host Franklin at 4:30 p.m. on Monday, April 13.
They will then face Andrews on the road Tuesday, April 14, and at home on Friday, April 17. Both games are scheduled to start at 4:30 p.m.
