JV Wildcats finish perfect season

Andrews – Getting through a season undefeated is an impressive feat, no matter the sport.
Which makes the Andrews Wildcat junior varsity football squad’s perfect season that much more remarkable.
“Most of these kids have played youth sports together so they’re familiar with each other,” Andrews JV football coach Jamie Martin said of his team’s synergy this season.
“They’re a group of hard-working kids, good athletes that have been playing football with each other since they’ve been 8 years old.”
Shutting out the Murphy Bulldogs 22-0 in their season finale, the Wildcats tore through the Smoky Mountain Junior Varsity Conference, with their slimmest margin of victory on the season being 14 points.
Now, as Andrews’ varsity football team seeks a spot in the playoffs, 17 players from the Wildcats’ JV roster have been called up as reinforcements.
“With Andrews its hard to keep big classes like these guys have together,” Martin said. “But this class I think is going to be the ones who do it, they’re a tight-knit bunch. And they all love being a Wildcat, so that’s a big part of it.”
