Hiwassee Dam softball got back into the win column as they swept Hayesville in a two-game series.
In two games that didn't see a sixth inning, the Lady Eagles notched two wins over their conference opponent.
Back in win column
The Lady Eagles got back into the win column with a 12-1 win over Hayesville on April 14. They dominated the game, which only lasted 4.5 innings.
They returned from spring break and got back on the field at home as they defeated their conference opponent.
After a scoreless first inning, the Lady Yellow Jackets got on the board first with one run in the top of the second inning.
The Lady Eagles then blew the game wide open as they scored eight runs in the bottom of the second inning.
After a scoreless third inning, the Lady Eagles added four more runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to lead 12-1.
They held the Lady Jackets scoreless in the top of the fifth inning and secured the victory, their fourth conference win of the season.
Brinkley Payne, Abby Harris and Josey Ware scored two runs each. Gracie Rhodes, Ryleigh Harris, Leah Taylor, Alyssa Standridge, Bella Davenport and Sophie Gibson scored one run each.
Davenport led the team with three RBI, while Gibson had two.
Harris and Gibson split the game on the pitchers mound. Harris had three strikeouts and Gibson had one.
Eagles get sweep
The Lady Eagles were back in action on the road Friday, where they earned the series sweep over Hayesville.
After a scoreless opening inning, Hayesville scored one run in the top of the second.
The Lady Jackets lead was short-lived as the Eagles drove in eight runs in the bottom of the second to take a 8-1 lead.
After a scoreless third inning, the Eagles scored four more runs to lead 12-1.
They held Hayesville scoreless in the top of the fifth inning and secured the 12-1 win and series sweep.
Payne, Ware and Abby Harris scored two runs each. Also scoring for the Lady Eagles were Rhodes, Ryleigh Harris, Taylor, Standridge, Davenport and Gibson.
Abby Harris and Gibson split pitching duties again Friday as they combined for the win.
Up next
The Eagles will return to the field Friday for a doubleheader on the road against Rosman. The first game will start at 4 p.m., immediately followed by the second game.
They will then travel to face Copper Basin, Tenn., at 5 p.m. Monday in their last non-conference game of the regular season.
