It was no easy week for the Hiwassee Dam baseball team, as the Eagles lost a home-and-home series against Hayesville, and also lost to Tellico Plains, Tenn.

In their first game of the week on March 18, Hiwassee Dam fell to Hayesville 17-1.

Hayesville got their bats going early with 10 runs through the first two innings. The Eagles got one the board with one run in the top of the fourth inning.

The Yellow Jackets piled on seven runs in the bottom of the fourth to lead 17-1. The Eagles couldn’t rally in the top of the fifth inning, ending the game.

Head coach Tommy Strickland said his biggest takeaway from the loss was, “We need to work hard on hitting the ball. We’re a little bit passive at the plate. We need to try and be more aggressive.”

In their second game of the week Thursday, Hiwassee Dam fell to Tellico Plains 10-0.     In their third game of their busy week, Hayesville came to Hiwassee Dam on Friday. The Yellow Jackets defeated the Eagles 12-8, but the Eagles put up a tough fight.

At 4:30 p.m. Friday, the Eagles will play host to Robbinsville. At 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 1, the Eagles will play host to the Cherokee Braves.
