Pro wrestling returns to Murphy inside steel cage
Peachtree – The American Championship Wrestling Federation returned to the Peachtree Community Center on Saturday night for Cage Wars, where each of the six matches took place inside of a steel cage.
Titles changed hands and titles were awarded at an eventful night as ACWF hosted their monthly show Saturday. The main event was an all-out brawl, as the Men of Honor (Frodo, Stryker and Mountain Man Jeremy Stiles) took on Flex Ferguson, Ray Steel and MD King.
Before the fighting even began, Frodo came to the ring wearing a Flex Ferguson shirt and was taunting him. The match began with two men in the ring, then quickly turned into a slugfest as all six men got involved.
The referee calmed things down, and order was restored for the time being. That didn’t last long, as the two groups met in the middle of the ring and fought.
As chaos ensued, Ferguson hit his finishing move on Frodo, then pinned him for a three-count to win the match. After the match, Stryker took to the microphone to challenge them again next month.
Leading up to the main event, Kevin Seiber came out to the ring. Seiber said the American Outlaws were not in attendance because they knew they would destroy the Men of Honor if they stepped inside the steel cage together.
Seiber also had his hand wrapped, which he said was from the Men of Honor slamming his hand in a car door after they surrounded him in the parking lot.
While Seiber was talking, the Men of Honor came out and surrounded the cage before entering to stare down Seiber. Security intervened and kept them apart.
The Chief came out and said Seiber needed to find two people to take on the Men of Honor in the main event or else he would be fired. Instead of two and himself, Seiber just brought out three and watched the match from the announcer’s table.
In the match prior, ACWF heavyweight champion Mr. Atlanta 2 put his title on the line against Digger James in a rematch from last month. Both big men had hard hitting slams as the match went on; Mr. Atlanta 2 picked up James on multiple occasions and showed off his strength.
As “The Fulton County Frankenstein” was on the verge on retaining his long-held title, Digger James dodged a chair shot, the chair hit the ropes and then Mr. Atlanta 2 on the head, knocking him down. James rushed in, pinned him and won the match – and ACWF heavyweight title.
After the match, James said this title win was for the fans.
In the match before, Mike Clay took on Robert Starr for the vacant ACWF United States title.
Mike Clay’s signature high-flying, hard-hitting style was on full display throughout the match. Clay and Starr had heavy hits from start to finish that rattled the walls of the community center.
Seiber came out during the match and hit Starr in the head with a metal trash can lid, which helped setup Clay to hit his finishing move off the top rope.
Clay then pinned Starr to win the ACWF U.S. title. After the match, Clay proudly held the belt over his head in each corner of the ring.
Prior to the third match of the night, Jeff the Ref came to the ring with multiple sets of handcuffs that he put different places in the ring and cage.
In the five-way match, Damian, Frodo, Billy Havoc, Ferguson and The Ghost were in action.
The fighting started before the bell rung as they were targeting Ferguson in another all-out brawl. Making use of the handcuffs, Havoc ended up handcuffed to one side of the steel cage where he was then beat up.
Frodo was then handcuffed to the steel cage, then he got handcuffed to Ferguson. Damien was beat up by Flex and left lying unconscious in the middle of the ring.
While Flex and Frodo were handcuffed to each other, The Ghost went to the corner of the ring and pulled something out of a mysterious black bag. His hand then caught on fire. He held his flaming hand in front of Flex, then hit Flex with his flaming hand.
The Ghost outsmarted the other four wrestlers to win the match and claim the ACWF light heavyweight title.
Prior to that match, there was a triple-threat match between Rodney Hayes, Ray Steel and Robert Starr.
All three men took big bumps and heavy hits during the match. The sheer size and strength of Ray Steel was stopped by Rodney Hayes, as he defeated Steel and Starr to win the match.
The first fight of the night was a tag-team match between The Freak and the Dixie Outlaw vs. Seth & Chandler Davis.
The Freak brought back his metal baseball with barbed wire on it, using it on Seth and Chandler Davis before the bell even rung. They continued to beat them up and won Saturday night’s opening match.
The ACWF will return to the Peachtree Community Center, 125 Memory Lane, on Nov. 2 for the organization’s annual Toys for Tots show.
Fans coming to next month’s show are encouraged to bring an unwrapped toy to be donated to children in need.
