Football practices are getting started today; games only a few weeks away
In accordance with the N.C. High School Athletics Association, today is the first day of practice for the 2024 fall sports. Football, volleyball, cross country and men’s soccer officially kick off their seasons by beginning practices, with their first games happening soon.
- The first official contest date for football is Friday, Aug. 23, with a last contest date of Friday, Nov. 1. Seeding for the playoffs is Nov. 2, and the first round is Nov. 8.
Round 2 is Nov. 15, Round 3 is Nov. 22 and Round 4 is Nov. 29. Regionals will be held Dec. 9. Football state championships will be held Friday and Saturday, Dec. 13-14.
- The first contest date for a volleyball match is Monday, Aug. 12. Seeding for the playoffs is Thursday, Oct. 17.
The first round of the playoffs will be Oct. 19, Round 2 is Oct. 22, Round 3 is Oct. 24 and Round 4 is Oct. 26. The regional round is Oct. 29, and state championships will be held Saturday, Nov. 2.
- For men’s soccer matches, the first contest date is Aug. 12. Seeding for the playoffs is Nov. 1.
The first round of the playoffs is Nov. 4, second round is Nov. 7, the third round is Nov. 14 and the regional round is Nov. 19. The state championships will be held Friday and Saturday, Nov. 22-23.
- For cross country, the first meet date is Aug. 12. Regionals will be held Oct. 26, and the state championships will be Nov. 2.
- For cheerleading, the first contest date is Aug. 12. The invitational preliminary warmup and performance list will be posted Nov. 8. The invitational final warmup and final performance list will be posted Nov. 22. The state cheerleading invitational will be Saturday, Dec. 7.
