Cherokee County swimming team registration opens soon
Murphy – The Cherokee County Aquatic Club will be returning to the water for the spring season.
The team provides a competitive swimming experience for boys and girls ages 5-18 from Cherokee, Clay and Graham counties, as well as Union County, Ga. They will learn skills that address good sportsmanship, decision making, time management, cooperation, self control, goal setting and leadership.
The team will practice at Murphy Health & Fitness, 695 Connahetta St.
Registration for the upcoming season will begin Wednesday through Friday, March 26-28. Practice will begin Monday, March 31. Swimmers can continue to register until June 1.
Practices will be held Monday, Tuesday and Thursday until the end of the school year.
The meet schedule will be established Tuesday, March 25, at the Mountain Swim League Spring meeting and will be available at registration. According to head coach Frank Bachteler, the schedule is expected to include swim meets in both western North Carolina and north Georgia.
Bachteler will again be the head coach, while Fern Crayton and Ariana Rivas will be assistant coaches this season.
