Local high schools sports are in full swing this week, with almost every team having at least one game or scrimmage under their belts.
It’s a big week for local sports, as the first in-county matchup of the season kicks off the week Monday, when Murphy volleyball hosts Hiwassee Dam. Then Friday night lights officially returns, as Murphy will travel to Western Carolina University in Cullowhee to take on Franklin in their week one matchup.
In addition, cross country kicks off with their first meet of the season Saturday morning at Tri-County Early College on the campus of the Cherokee County Schools of Innovation in Peachtree.
