Fall sports are going strong as local teams enter the final full week of September.
On tap this week includes a five-game slate Monday featuring boys soccer and volleyball, boys soccer and volleyball Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, then wrapping up the week on the football field.
Cross country also returns to the county Wednesday afternoon as Hiwassee Dam will host the next meet at McNabb Farm. They were scheduled to host a meet last season, but due to inclement weather, the meet was cancelled.
Both varsity football teams are back in action this week in Smoky Mountain Conference play. Murphy is set to open their conference schedule on the road at Cherokee, while Andrews is set to face Robbinsville on the road.
