Athlete of the Year

Murphy alumna Sarah Pullium was honored before the Nov. 23 girls varsity basketball game after being named the N.C. High School Athletic Association Athlete of the Year. Pullium won seven state championships in her four years as a Lady Bulldog, which is believed to be a school record. She won three individual state championships in the discus, two outdoor track and field team state championships, and two girls basketball state championships. Pullium is a freshman at the University of North Carolina in Charlotte, where she is a member of the track and field team.
