Robbinsville – Despite not having classes that day, the Andrews varsity basketball team was able to play on the road Jan. 27 in Smoky Mountain Conference action.
Girls win 58-33
The Lady Wildcats defeated the Knights 58-33. A big second half helped the Cats secure the important win.
With nine points in the opening frame, the Cats took a 9-6 lead. They followed that by dropping 16 points in the second quarter to lead 25-10 at halftime.
With 18 points in the third quarter, the Cats continued to extend their lead. They added 15 more points in the fourth quarter to conquer the Knights.
Drea Cutshaw led the Cats with 19 points. Also scoring in double digits were Marley Blackwell with 14 points and Juliet Holloway with 10.
Boys fall 53-34
It was a different story for the boys, who fell 53-34 to the Knights.
The Cats led early with 11 points in the first quarter to take a one-point lead to the second period. The Knight fought back with 13 points and the game went to halftime tied at 23.
A big second half led the Knight to the win as they scored 16 points in the third quarter while holding the Cats to nine points.
In the fourth quarter, the Knights added 14 points and the Cats only scored two points.
After a big second half, the Knights won. Levi Clark was the only Wildcat with double-digit points as he scored 10.

The Cats will be back in action Friday, when they host Swain County.
They will then take on Hayesville on Monday. For both games, the girls will play at 6:30 p.m., with the boys playing directly after.
