Andrews, Murphy girls soccer face Highlands

Varsity girls soccer continued its season as Andrews and Murphy faced Highlands on back-to-back days.

Andrews was also in action against Macon Early College. 

 

Dogs win 5-1

The Murphy girls soccer team was in action Friday as they traveled to face Highlands. Murphy got the 5-1 win for its fourth straight victory.

The Lady Dogs scored four goals in the first half to lead 4-1 at halftime. They added one more in the second half to win the game 5-1 in their fourth straight win and third Smoky Mountain Conference win of the season. 

 

Cats play 2 games

The Lady Wildcats started their week by hosting Macon Early College on March 18. Both teams netted one goal in the first half, then had a scoreless second half for the game to end in a 1-1 tie. 

This was their first tie of the season and as a girls program and not co-ed. The Lady Wildcats were back in action the next day as they hosted Highlands. 

Andrews fell to the Lady Highlanders 3-1 on Thursday. 

The Lady Cats struck first with a first-half goal. They maintained the 1-0 tie at halftime. 

In the second half, Highlands found the back of the net three times to win the match 3-1.

 

Up next

The Lady Dogs will be back on the pitch at 6 p.m. Thursday, when they host Highlands. They will then travel to face Summit Charter at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The Lady Wildcats will travel to face Blue Ridge Early College at 4:30 p.m. Thursday for their next match.
