It was a winning week for varsity girls soccer teams in Cherokee County.
Both Andrews and Murphy earned important Smoky Mountain Conference wins.
Andrews
The Lady Wildcats picked up two wins to end their three-game winless stretch. They defeated Cherokee and Blue Ridge Early College, with both on the road.
They started the week by traveling to Cherokee on March 23. They defeated the Lady Braves 4-1 for their third SMC win.
They were then back in action Thursday night as they traveled to Cashiers to face Blue Ridge Early College for the second time this season.
Andrews earned its second straight win by defeating the Lady Bobcats 3-0.
The Lady Wildcats are now 4-2-1 overall and 4-2 in the SMC. They sit in third place in the conference being Summit Charter and Murphy, at press time.
Murphy
It was a one-game week for the Lady Bulldogs as they hosted Swain County on March 23.
The Lady Dogs earned their fifth straight win as they defeated Swain 3-0.
The Dogs got on the board with one goal in the first half.
After halftime they added two more to secure their 3-0 victory.
With the win, they improve to 5-1 overall and 4-0 in the SMC, at press time.

The Lady Wildcats will return to the pitch at
6 p.m. Thursday, when they host Swain County.
Murphy played its final game before spring break against Summit Charter, which came in after the Cherokee Scout’s press time Tuesday morning.
When both teams return from spring break, the Lady Wildcats and Bulldogs will face off in Andrews at 6 p.m. Monday, April 13.
They will play each other again in Murphy at 6 p.m. Friday, April 17.
