Andrews Lady Wildcats fall to Robbinsville Knights in softball doubleheader

Robbinsville – In Friday’s doubleheader against Robbinsville, the Andrews varsity softball team fell in both games.

The game was postponed from earlier in the week due to weather. In the two games, Andrews was shutout, as the Lady Knight combined for 32 runs scored.


 

Cats fall 15-0

In the first game of the doubleheader, the Lady Wildcats fell 15-0 in three innings. 

Robbinsville scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning to get the scoring started. They then added three more runs in the bottom of the second to lead 6-0. The Lady Black Knights ended the game with nine runs in the bottom of the third.

Robbinsville pitcher Ella Nelms threw a no-hitter in the game.


 

Cats fall 17-0

In the second game of the doubleheader, the Lady Wildcats fell 17-0.

Robbinsville got the scoring started with five runs in both the first and second innings to take an early 10-0 lead. After a scoreless third, Robbinsville added one run in the bottom of the fourth to lead 11-0. 

The Lady Knights ended the game with six runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to win. The Lady Wildcats’ only hit came from Chloe Patterson.

Azlyn DeHart also got on base after being walked.


 

Up next

The Lady Wildcats will return to the field Friday, when they host in-county rivals Hiwassee Dam. They will play host to Swain County on Tuesday. 

First pitch for both games is set for 4:30 p.m.
