The Andrews varsity basketball teams had a week of road games before heading to winter break.
They started the week by splitting with Highlands, then ended the week by sweeping Rosman.
Boys
The Wildcats kicked off their last week of games in 2025 by getting a nine-point win over Highlands. They made the trip to take on the Highlanders on Dec. 16 for their first game of the week and game away with the win.
Andrews took the lead in the first quarter with 15 points to lead by six heading into the second quarter. Highlands fought back in the second quarter to try and close the gap, but Andrews took a 30-23 leading at halftime.
The Wildcats maintained their lead in the third quarter as they outscored the Highlanders for a third straight quarter. Andrews took a 42-32 lead into the final frame after scoring 12 points in the third quarter.
Highlands outscored the Wildcats 15-14 in the fourth quarter, but couldn’t catch the Wildcats, which notched their third straight win.
Gabe Clark and Logan Shuler led the team with 18 points each. Shuler led the team in 3-pointers by draining six of them, as all 18 of his points came from beyond the arch.
Brady McLelland had eight points on the night, with four of those points coming from the free throw line. Levi Clark led the team with six rebounds, while Gabe Clark led the team in assists with six.
They returned to the court Friday as they hit the road to face Rosman for the first time this season. In their first Smoky Mountain Conference matchup of the season against Rosman, the Cats dominated the Tigers.
Back on the road, the Wildcats brought home a huge 62-10 victory.
The Wildcats jumped out to a big lead with 14 points in the first quarter and held Rosman to zero. The Cats were led by Gabe Clark with a pair of 3-pointers.
They increased their lead with 23 more points in the second quarter, led by Tucker Stalcup with eight points on two 3-pointers and a field goal.
Andrews took a huge 37-6 lead to halftime.
The Cats only pulled ahead more in the third quarter with 17 more points, while holding Rosman to just three points.
In the third quarter, Andrews was led by Logan Shuler and Levi Clark with six points each.
To close out the game, Andrews added eight points and Rosman scored one to net the final 62-10 score.
Braylen Maennle led the Wildcats with 12 points. He was the only player in double digits, but every Wildcats who played scored at least two points.
Girls
The Lady Wildcats started their week by falling to Highlands on the road. They traveled to take on the Lady Highlanders on Dec. 16 and lost 41-36.
Highlands jumped out to a first-quarter lead with 10 points in the first quarter as the Lady Wildcats scored four points. Andrews got back in the game heading into halftime with seven points in the second quarter as they trailed 12-11 at halftime.
The Lady Cats scored 13 points in the third quarter to take a 24-22 lead to the third quarter. Highlands battled back with 19 points in the fourth quarter en route to winning.
Knox Davis led the Lady Wildcats with 11 points. Marley Blackwell had eight points, while Alexis Beasley and Kimber Vaught had seven each.
Davis and Blackwell led the team from beyond the arch as both had two 3-pointers.
Beasley led the team in rebounds with 12, while Drea Cutshaw led the team in assists with five.
The Lady Wildcats were back on the road Friday, as they made their first trip to Rosman since Feb. 18, 2021. In their first SMC game of the season, the Lady Wildcats got the 72-21 win.
Andrews jumped out to an early lead with 14 points in the first quarter and only allowed Rosman to score five points.
The Lady Cats doubled down with 29 points in the second quarter to lead 42-12 at halftime.
Coming out of halftime, the Lady Wildcats scored 21 points in the third quarter to lead 63-14 heading into the final frame.
To close out the game, Andrews scored nine points in the fourth quarter to win 72-21.
The Lady Cats were led by Davis with 30 points. Also in double digits were Blackwell with 11 and Cutshaw with 10.

When the Wildcats return from winter break, they will host Robbinsville on Friday, Jan. 2, 2026. The girls will start at 6 p.m., followed by the boys right after.
They will then travel to Franklin on Monday, Jan. 5, 2026, for their first of two games against the Panthers.
