Andrews High Lady Wildcats fall on the road to Rosman in softball

Rosman – The Andrews varsity softball team kicked off its 2026 campaign with a doubleheader against Smoky Mountain Conference foe Rosman.

The Lady Wildcats hit the road for their first games of the season Friday evening.

 

Loses 1st game

The Lady Wildcats got their season started with the first of two games Friday by losing to Rosman 15-1. Rosman scored four runs in the first inning to take the early lead.

Andrews scored their lone run of the game when Kayleigh Cochran crossed home plate in the top of the second inning. Rosman then extended its lead in the bottom of the second with seven runs to lead 11-1.

The Lady Tigers added on four more runs in the bottom of the third to lead 15-1. 

They shutout the Wildcats in the top of the fourth inning to win the first game.

 

Falls in 2nd game

Both teams were back on the field that same day with the same result in the second game – Rosman winning 15-1. Andrews’ lone run of the game came in the first inning with Kaiya Ellis scoring the run.

Rosman scored five runs to lead 5-1 through the opening frame. 

Rosman then scored one run in the second inning and four more in the third to lead 10-1 through three innings.

The Lady Tigers scored five more runs in the fifth inning to secure the win.

Ellis and Cochran had the Wildcats’ only hits in the second game. 

Ellis also had two stolen bases.

In the pitching circle, Cochran and Azlyn DeHart split duties.

 

Up next

The Lady Wildcats will head to Robbinsville to face the Lady Black Knights at 4:30 p.m. Friday.

They will then take on in-county rivals when they travel to Hiwassee Dam at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.
