Both Cherokee County girls varsity soccer teams took losses during the week.
Murphy hosted Summit Charter and lost, while Andrews hosted Swain County and also lost.
Both teams will look to bounce bacak when they return from spring break.
Dogs fall 5-1
Murphy hosted Summit Charter on March 31 in its second straight home game.
The Lady Bulldogs suffered a 5-1 loss to snap their five-game winning streak.
Summit Charter scored five goals against the Dogs as the their most goals against in a match so far this season.
With the win, Summit Charter remains undefeated and sits atop of the Smoky Mountain Conference standings.
This was Murphy’s second loss of the season and first in the SMC.
The Lady Dogs are 4-1 in the SMC and are in second place at press time.
Once they return from spring break, they will face Andrews on the road at 6 p.m. on Monday.
Cats lose 5-0
The Lady Wildcats hosted Swain County on Thursday night and lost 5-0.
Swain scored three goals in the first half, including one on a penalty kick late in the half.
After leading 3-0 at halftime, Swain added two more goals in the second half to win 5-0.
The loss snaps Andrews’ two-game win streak.
The Lady Wildcats are 4-3-1 overall as they head to spring break.
They have a 4-3 SMC record and sit in fourth place at press time.
After spring break, they will host Murphy at 6 p.m. on Monday.
They will then face Highlands on the road at 6 p.m. Thursday, April 16.
