Smoky Mountain Conference picks, week 12; last week 2-1, season 29-9
![]() |
We only have one game to pick this week, as all other Smoky Mountain Conference teams are idle. So I’ll give a little bit of a recap to the regular season.
I will admit I read too much into the hype over Swain’s line and how good the Maroon Devils were going to be at the start of the season. I wasn’t the only one buying into the hype. Anyway, I was wrong.
In all likelihood, Murphy will face Robbinsville again, depending on where the brackets shake out next week. That game will be another barnburner.
One other note before the pick this week: Any team outside the conference that looks at Robbinsville’s record and expects an easy out is in for a rude awakening.
Robbinsville at Swain
Speaking of those two teams, they play this week, as the Black Knights invade Devil Country. Swain got their first win of the year last week. To put it nicely, they will not get their second this week. Coach Dee Walsh’s Knights should win this one going away. Robbinsville by 21.
