Murphy – All four local track & field teams were at the same meet for the first time this season and they competed at Murphy High School.
Along with Murphy, Andrews, Hiwassee Dam and Tri-County Early College, Highlands and Nantahala also competed at the meet on April 16.
William Wood of Andrews set a new school record at the meet with a throw of 155-feet, 10-inches. He broke the record set by Jacob Whitaker of 155-feet, 4-inches on May 9, 2015, at the 1A West Regional meet.
Winning their event in boys track were Chandler Nernes of Murphy in the 100-meter dash, Blake Davis of Murphy in the 200m, William Boyd of Tri-County Early College in the 400m, Landan Spies of Tri-County in the 800m, Braden Edwards of Murphy in the 3,200m and Camden Breazeale of Murphy with wins in both the 110m hurdles and 300m hurdles.
Getting wins in the boys field events were Logan Shuler of Andrews in high jump, Kegan Ellis of Andrews in long jump, Myca Mustin of Andrews in triple jump, Wood in discus and Aaron Harger of Murphy in shot put.
Murphy got wins in the 4x100m, 4x200m and 4x800 relays. Andrews took first in the 4x400m relay.
Getting wins in the girls track events were Kylie Donaldson of Andrews in both the 100m and 200m dash, Corrine Cotton of Murphy in the 400m and Fern Crayton of Tri-County in the 800m, 1,600, and 3,200m. Kaiya Ellis of Andrews won the 100m hurdles and Jaden Crocker of Andrews won the 300m hurdles.
Earning wins in the girls field events were Kaiya Ellis of Andrews in the long jump, Donaldson in triple jump, Crocker in discus and Demi Davis of Andrews in shot put.
Andrews’ girls relay teams took first in the 4x100m, 4x200m and 4x800m relays.
Murphy
Earning top-three finishes for the Bulldogs in the boys track events were Jaden Rice in third in the 800m, Heath Chastain in second in the 3,200m and Ryan Morrow in second in the 110m hurdles.
Getting top-three finishes in the boys field events were Grayson Hall in third in high jump, Cale Harger in second in long jump, Anthony Catuto in third in triple jump, Aaron Harger in third in discus, Brody Orton in second and Janthony Gooden in third in shot put.
The boys relay came in third in the 4x400m.
Earning top-three finishes in the girls track events were Rylee Tabor in third in the 100m, Cotton in second in the 200m and Kennedy White in second and Anna Leatherwood in third in the 800m. Leatherwood also got third in the 1,600m. Sadie Cornwell got second in the 100m hurdles.
Earning top-three finishes in the girls field events were Marley Blackwell in third in the triple jump, Ansley Roper in second in discus and Amelia Joyner in third in shot put.
The girls relay teams got second in the 4x100m and 4x200m.
Andrews
Earning top-three finishes for the Wildcats in the boys track events were Isaac Patrick in third in the 100m dash, Logan Shuler in second in the 200m, Myca Mustin in third in the 400m and Chase Beasley in third in the 300m hurdles.
Getting top-three finishes in the boys field events were Brady McLelland in third in long jump, Kegan Ellis in second in triple jump and Logan Patrick in second in discus.
Earning top-three finishes in the girls track events were Juliet Holloway in second in the 100m, Kimber Vaught in third in the 200m and Khloe Mayfield in second and Kamryn Anderson in third in the 400m. Lauren Cochran got third in the 100m hurdles and Mattie Mustin got second in the 300m hurdles.
Earning top-three finishes for Andrews in the girls field events were Crocker in third in long jump, Kaiya Ellis in second in triple jump, Demi Davis in third in discus and Alexis Beasley in second in shot put.
Tri-County Early College
Earning top-three finishes for the Jaguars in the boys track events were William Boyd in third in the 200m, Joshua Bickam in second in the 400m and Jacob Gonzalez in second in the 800m.
The girls relay teams got second in the 4x800m and third place in the 4x100m and 4x200m.
Hiwassee Dam
The Eagles had five athletes at the meet. In boys 100m dash, Brandon Bishop came in 12th. Johnathan Bennett came in 12th in discus and 12th in shot put.
Avery Freemon came in fifth in girls 800m. In long jump, Haile Barney came in fourth and Isabella Krauter-Fabrizi came in fifth.

Local teams will head to Cherokee at 3:30 p.m. today to compete as they prepare to return to Cherokee on Wednesday, April 30, for the conference championship meet.
Athletes will continue to attempt to qualify for the regional meet.
