Brasstown – Tri-County Racetrack hosted its second race of the season under beautiful conditions Friday night.
Their race scheduled for April 12 was canceled due to rain and cold temperatures, but Friday night’s conditions were the total opposite with clear skies and warmth.
As the sun set on the western side of the track, drivers completed their hot laps and qualifying sessions. After the sun had set, the races began.
In the Street Stocks classification, Roger Beaver of Murphy came in third. Beaver qualified at pole position, but dropped down to third during the race.
In Front Wheel Drives, Phillip Hall of Andrews got the win and Chris Leitner of Murphy came in third.
Hall started in fourth after qualifying, then moved up as the race went on and got the win. Leitner qualified fifth, then moved up to third.
In Dirt Late Models, Dante Curtis of Murphy got the win, Shawn Chastain of Murphy came in second and Greg Sudderth of Brasstown came in third.
In the 20-lap Dirt Late Model race, Curtis and Chastain finished where they qualified. Sudderth qualified in fourth, but then moved up and finished in third to complete the Cherokee County top three.
In the A Modifieds, Brawley Stillwell of Andrews came in third. In the 15-lap race, Stillwell finished where he qualified.
In 602 Late Models, Colton Berrong of Murphy came in second. In the 20-lap race, Berrong qualified in fifth, but then moved up to take second place.
The 604 Late Model winner was Jacob Parris of Epworth, Ga. Matt Whitener of Canton, Ga., got the win in the Street Stocks after qualifying in fourth place then moving up during the race.
The winner of the 602 Late Models was Bryson Hickman of Ootlewah, Tenn. The winner of the Crown Victoria race was Adam Phillips of Canton, N.C. Phillips qualified in third then moved up to get the win.
Rounding out the top three in each race, Jason Deal of Copperhill, Tenn., got third and Zane Littleton of Chatsworth, Ga., got third in the 604 Late Models. In Street Stocks, Dylan Hannah of Clyde came in second.
Coming in second place in the Front Wheel Drives was Michael Beeman of Young Harris, Ga. Coming in first in the A Modifieds was Matt Sandefur of Mineral Bluff, Ga., and in second was David Pollen of Tampa, Fla.
The third-place finisher behind Hickman and Berrong in the 602 Late Model race was Ricky Smith of Hiawassee, Ga.
In second place behind Phillips in the Crown Victoria race was Conner Green of Blue Ridge, Ga., in second and Richard Ames Jr. of Ellijay, Ga., in third place.
Racing will return to Tri-County Racetrack on Saturday, May 10, with the Mother’s Day Special race. In action will be the regular classifications of 602 and 604 Late Models, Street Stocks, Front Wheel Drives, A Modifieds and First Late Models.
