Brasstown – Zach Sise of Knoxville, Tenn., earned his second win in the Topless Outlaws Late Model Series on Saturday night at Tri-County Racetrack.
Cars hit the track for the first time in more than a month, as the skies cleared and allowed for the Topless Outlaws series to race. Side barreled his way up from ninth place to earn the win in Saturday night’s 40-lap race, as he is in first place this year in the series.
Barrett Lowe of Fletcher started in seventh place and finished in second. Local drive Levi Hicks of Murphy finished in third place after starting in the same position.
Rounding out the top five were two Tennessee drivers. Rusty Ballenger of Seymour came in fourth, while Noah Phillips of Sevierville came in fifth.
Kyle Courtney of Knoxville came in seventh place and is second in the Topless Outlaws standings, 30 points behind Sise.
They also ran their regular classes at Tri-County on Saturday night.
In 604 Late Model, Junior Whitener of Blue Ridge, Ga., took home the win after starting in second place. Michael Barnett of Hayesville came in second, while Jacob Hamby of Murphy finished third. Jonathan Cope of Andrews came in fourth, and Cody Gloyne of Cherokee finished fifth.
In the 602 Late Model race, Jody Wilson of Blue Ridge came in first place after starting sixth. Dylan Beaver of Murphy came in second after starting eighth. Michael Barnett of Hayesville came in third after starting 11th.
Murphy driver Jim Exum took home the win in the Crown Vic race. Exum started in eighth worked his way to the front to win.
Conner Green of Blue Ridge came in second place after starting in seventh. Ricky Dyer of Murphy finished third.
In the front wheel drives race, Shannon Jones of Hayesville got the win after starting sixth. Christopher Kane of Murphy worked his way up one spot to finish in second place. Eric Farnham of Hayesville finished third after starting in eighth.
Phillip Hall of Andrews came in fourth place, while Alex Edwards of Murphy came in fifth after starting in 12th.
In the street stocks race, Charles Devine of Murphy came in first place after starting from pole position. Toby Singleton of Waynesville came in second place, and Johnny Hannah of Clyde finished third.
In the A modifiers race, Gabe Wilson of Waynesville got the win. Ricky Smith of Hiawassee, Ga., came in second place, and Barry Anderson of Murphy came in third.
Racing will return to Brasstown on Friday, Aug. 8, when the Rogers-Dabbs Performance Parts Racin’ USA Dirt Late Model Series comes to the track.
There will be $3,000 to win in the feature race in CRUSA’s first time back at Tri-County Racetrack since June 5, 2015.
