Brasstown – Gentlemen, start your engines, because racing is officially back at Tri-County Racetrack.
After over a year without hosting a race, Tri-County hosted its first race Saturday in front of a packed crowd. Racing fans eagerly awaited this day since it was announced and were not disappointed, as Saturday included the biggest race ever held at the track.
Shawn Chastain of Murphy took home the win in the dirt late model classification. Dylan Hannah of Clyde won the Street Stock classification.
In the 602 Late Model classification, Kenny Collins of Colbert, Ga., took home the win and $3,500 at the Brasstown Brawl.
The 604 Late Model winner was Jacob Parris of Epworth, Ga. The Open Wheel Modified winner was Johnny Cloer of Chatsworth, Ga. Justin Beal of Chatsworth, Ga., won the Front Wheel Drive classification.
The winner of the Crown Vic classification was Adam Phillips of Canton.
Finishing in the top five of the 604 Late Models were Jacob Parr, Mitchell Childress, Brad Seagle, Cody Gloyne and Glenn Barnett.
Finishing in the top five of the 602 Late Models were Kenny Collins, Booger Brooks, Tyler Millwood, Cooper Twiggs and Jonathan Cope.
Finishing in the top five of the Crown Vics were Adam Phillips, Joe Rigdon, Richard Ames, Austin Brown and Ricky Dyer.
Finishing in the top five of the Front Wheel Drives were Justin Beal, Jason Crowder, Christopher Kane, Austin Kinsey and Josh Chastain.
Finishing in the top five of the Dirt Late Models were Shawn Chastain, Dante Curtis, Devon Morgan, Tyler Nichols and John Howard.
Finishing in the top five of the Street Stocks were Dyland Hannah, Tim Kilby, Logan Exum, Ricket Tallent and Tyler Hannah.
Finishing in the top five of the A Modifieds were Johnny Cloer, Gabe Wilson, Joseph Galloway, Brian Nickerson and Chris Nickerson.
Following the race, Tri-County Racetrack shared a post on their Facebook saying, “On behalf of Jason [Welshan], Jamie [Oliver] and the entire staff of TCR, we want to personally thank each driver and fan for coming out last night. That was one of the biggest crowds ever at TCR. … We look forward to seeing you all back out in a few weeks!”
Racing returns to Tri-County Racetrack on Saturday, April 12, and Friday, April 18, for two regular races as the only two events next month.
