Only a few meets remain for varsity track & field teams in Cherokee County as the end of the season is quickly approaching.
Teams will wrap up the regular season in the coming weeks before competing in the Smoky Mountain Conference championship meet, then onto Regionals and the state championship.
So far this season, the local track teams have done well as they ready themselves for the final meets of the 2026 season.
Andrews
The Wildcats have competed in seven meets so far this season, with their first being the WNC Kickoff Invitational at Western Carolina University in Cullowhee on March 6.
Since then they have competed in a slew of weekly SMC meets.
Both the boys and girls teams have had strong showings in their respective events.
For the boys, Phisher Baxter has the best time in the 100-meter dash at 11.44 seconds. In the 200m dash, the best time belongs to Isaac Patrick at 25.31 seconds. Myca Mustin has the best time in the 400m dash at 56.71 seconds.
Jayce Donaldson has the best time in the 800m run at 2:17.38. Elliott Salinas has the team's best time in the 1,600m and 3,200m runs. Salinas ran the 1,600m in 4:59.30 and the 3,200m in 10:54.29.
Chase Beasley has the best time in both the hurdles events. He ran the 110m hurdles in 20.04 seconds and the 300m hurdles in 50.46 seconds.
For the boys field events, Logan Patrick has the team’s best shot put and discus throws. AJ Johnson has the best long jump distance and Mustin has the best triple jump distance.
Reigning high jump state champion Logan Shuler has the team’s best jump so far as he looks to repeat this season as 1A champ.
For the Lady Wildcats, Juliet Holloway has the team’s best time in the 100m, 200m and 400m dashes. Her 100m best time is 13.95 seconds, her best 200m time is 28.58 seconds and her best 400m time is 1:09.38.
Adlyan Nix has teh best 800m time at 3:03.24. Cheyenne Graves has the best 1,600m time at 7:06.38.
Kaiya Ellis has the best 100m hurdles time at 17.39 seconds and Sadie Mustin has the best 300m hurdles time at 1:01.40.
Ellis also has the team’s best jumps in the high jump and triple jump. Natalie Garrett has the team’s best long jump distance.
Alexis Beasley has the team’s best shot put throw and Jaden Crocker has the team’s best throw in discus.
Hiwassee Dam
The Eagles also kicked off their season at the WNC Kickoff Invitational and have since competed in three meets so far this season.
The boys have had strong showings in the distance running events as Oscar Page and Maverick Hawley have consistently finished in the top three. For the girls, Avery Freemon has had strong showings in the 800m and 1,600m runs.
So far this season, Oscar Page has the team’s best time in the 400m, 800m, 1,600m and 3,200m running events.
His best time in the 400m is 57.14 seconds and his best time in the 800m is 2:11.32. His best time in the 1,600m is 4:42.33 and his best time in the 3,200m is 10:40.27.
Johnathan Bennett has the team’s best discus throw and Brandon Bishop has their best throw in shot put.
For the Lady Eagles, Freemon has the best time this season in the 800m and 1,600m runs. Her best 800m time is 3:02.79 and her best 1,600m time is 7:12.42.
Kailyn Lecoq has the team’s best time in the 100m dash at 14.92 seconds. She also has the team’s best long jump distance.
Bella Krauter-Fabrizi has the team’s best 200m dash time at 35.33 seconds. Sarah Stock has the team’s best throw in the discus and shot put events. Chloe McNabb has the team’s best high jump so far this season.
McNabb’s jump of 4-foot-4 is the school record.
Murphy
The Bulldogs also started their season in Cullowhee at the WNC Kickoff Invitational and have since competed in six meets.
For the boys, David Rochester has the team’s best times in the 100m and 200m dashes. His best 100m time is 11.84 seconds and his best 200m time is 23.87 seconds.
Ryan Payne has the best 400m dash time at 55.23 seconds and Zion Lewis has the best 800m run time at 2:38.77.
Grayson Hall has the best 1,600m time at 5:42.36. Hall also has the team’s best high jump.
Camden Breazeale has dominated the hurdles with a season best time in the 110m at 15.63 and the 300m at 41.08. He also has the team’s best shot put throw so far this season.
Cale Harger has the team’s best long jump and triple jump distances. Aaron Harger has the team’s best discus throw.
For the Lady Bulldogs, CJ Yabro has the team’s best time in the 100m hurdles, as well as long jump and triple jump. Her best 100m hurdles time is 17.83 seconds.
Rylee Tabor has the team's best 100m and 200m dash times. Her 100m time is 13.33 seconds and her 200m time is 28.24.
Rylei Howard has the team’s best time in the 400m and 800m. Her 400m time is 1:12.02 and her 800m time is 3:04.71. Hadley Rider has the best 1,600m time at 7:33.9`.
Ansley Roper has the team's best discus throw, while Amelia Joyner has the best shot put throw.
Bella Kent has the team’s best high jump so far this season.
Tri-County Early College
The Jaguars kicked off their season at Montreat College in Black Mountain at the Swain County High School Invitational on March 13. Since then they have competed in three SMC meets so far this year.
For the boys, Leo Henningfeld has the team’s best times in the 100m and 200m dashes. His best 100m time is 13.72 and his best 200m time is 28.21. Jovani Baker has the best 400m time at 1:03.14.
Mason Smith has the team’s best times in the 1,600m and 3,200m runs. His best 1,600m time is 6:00.36 and his best 3,200m time is 14:40.17.
Julian Arvizu has the team's best 800m time, as well as the best shot put throw. His best 800m time is 2:38.67.
For the Lady Jaguars, Fern Crayton has the team’s best times in the 800m, 1,600m and 3,200m runs.
Her best time in the 800m run is 2:49.69, her best in the 1,600m is 5:58.63 and her best in the 3,200m is 13:06.15.
Kadeesha Sudderth has the team’s best times in the 200m and 400m dashes. Her best 200m time is 33.25 seconds and her best time in the 400m is 1:16.34.
