With the end of the season comes conference honors. In the Smoky Mountain Conference, 34 local athletes were named All-Conference or All-Conference honorable mention.
The Murphy High School women’s soccer team had the most in the county as eight players received All-Conference or All-Conference honorable mention.
From Murphy’s women’s soccer team, Halie Hill, Tyra Nelson and Brooklyn Johnson were named All-Conference.
Kaydence Walton, Kylee Koop, Ella Ledford, Tina Bui and Leah Beebe earned All-Conference honorable mentions.
The Lady Bulldogs went 14-5 overall and were 12-2 in the SMC this season. Their season came to an end in their first ever third-round appearance when they lost to the Community School of Davidson at home.
The Andrews High School baseball team had seven receiving honors.
Logan Hyde, Ethan Sutton, Dawson Stalcup and Drew Dartez were named SMC All-Conference.
Kelby Waldroup, Aiden “Peanut” Garrett and Logan Shuler were named SMC All-Conference honorable mentions.
The Wildcats had a historic season, going 21-3 overall and 12-2 in the SMC. Their season came to an end in the third round of the 1A state playoffs where they lost to Chatham Charter on the road.
From the Andrews varsity softball team, Chanteah Rattler was named an All-Conference honorable mention.
The Lady Wildcats went 1-16 overall and 1-13 in the SMC. They then lost to Chatham Central on the road in the first round of the 1A state playoffs.
The Murphy varsity softball team had three All-Conference players as Piper Dalton, as well as seniors Paisley Johnson and Emma Laney, earned honors.
Gracie Thrasher and Emma Hensley were named All-Conference honorable mentions from the Lady Bulldogs.
The Lady Dogs had a 12-9 overall record and went 9-5 in the SMC. Their season came to an end against SMC rivals Swain County in the third round of the 2A state playoffs.
Colton Morgan and Zack Hogsed were named SMC All-Conference from the Murphy varsity baseball team.
Aayden Williams and Konner Dockery were named All-Conference honorable mentions from the Bulldogs.
The Bulldogs went 8-13 overall and 7-7 in the SMC. Their season came to an end when they lost to Elkin on the road in the first round of the 2A state playoffs.
From Hiwassee Dam, Brinkley Payne was named All-Conference from the softball team. Avery McNabb, Abby Harris and Gracie Rhodes were named All-Conference honorable mentions.
The Lady Eagles went 6-11 overall and 6-8 in the SMC. Their season came to an end on the road when they lost to Bethany Community in the first round of the 1A state playoffs.
Elijah Cole earned All-Conference honors from Hiwassee Dam’s baseball team.
The Eagles went 1-16 overall and 1-13 in the SMC. Their season came to an end when they lost to the No. 1 seeded N.C. Leadership Academy.
In women’s soccer, Kimber Vaught of Andrews was named All-Conference.
Also from the Andrews women’s soccer team, Natalie Garrett, Lauren Cochran and Dréa Cutshaw earned All-Conference honorable mentions.
