With another perfect week where they picked up three wins, the Andrews varsity baseball team remains undefeated with a 14-0 record.
The Wildcats picked up three more wins during the week, as they swept Smoky Mountain Conference opponents Swain County and defeated the North Georgia Tribe.
Cats down Tribe
Andrews started the three-game week on March 30 by defeating home school team the North Georgia Tribe 13-3.
The Wildcats defeated the Dawsonville, Ga.-based squad in six innings.
After a scoreless opening frame, the Cats got to work with four runs in the bottom of the second inning. They then added three more run to lead 7-0 through three innings.
They added one more run in the bottom of the fourth to take a 8-0 lead before the Tribe got on the board.
The Tribe scored their only runs of the game in the fifth inning as they drove in three.
In the bottom of the fifth, Andrews added three more runs as they led 11-3.
Then in the bottom of the sixth, the Wildcats drove in two runs to win the game 13-3.
Ethan Sutton led the Cats as he crossed home plate four times in the game. Logan Hyde, Aiden Garrett and Kelby Waldroup scored two runs each.
Logan Shuler, Dawson Stalcup and Brady Queen scored one run each.
Tanner Postell led the Cats with four RBI, while Waldroup had three.
Hyde and Stalcup also had one stolen base each.
On the mound, Postell and Queen combined for the Wildcats’ victory. Postell pitched four shutout innings, only giving up three hits and two walks. He also had five strikeouts.
Queen pitched two innings, giving up three runs on four hits. He also had three strikeouts.
Cats down Devils 3-1
The Wildcats returned to Smoky Mountain Conference play as they hosted Swain County on March 31.
The Wildcats outlasted the Maroon Devils and prevented a late rally as they won 3-1, earning their 13th straight victory.
The game started with two full scoreless innings before the Cats got on the board first.
With two outs in the bottom of the third, Shuler got a hold of one and sent it over the fence for a home run to give the Cats a 1-0 lead.
In the bottom of the fourth inning, Waldroup hit a sacrifice fly ball to center to score Hyde form third base and give the Cats a 2-0 lead.
The Cats then extended their lead to 3-0 in the bottom of the fifth as Brady McLelland scored after Drew Dartez hit a RBI double.
After a scoreless sixth inning, Swain attempted a late rally in the top of the seventh. The Devils were only able to score one run and the Cats won 3-1.
Hyde threw a 86-pitch complete game. He gave up one run on three hits and one walk. He also struck out nine Swain batters.
Cats sweep Swain
The Wildcats were on the road in their last game before spring break as they traveled to Bryson City for the second game of the series.
Andrews defeated the Maroon Devils 13-3 in six innings to remain undefeated with a 14-0 overall record.
The Wildcats got on the board first with two runs in the first inning. They then added three runs in the top of the third inning to lead 5-0.
Swain County scored its first run of the game in the bottom of the third as the Cats led 5-1.
The Wildcats extended their lead with one run in the top of the fourth inning to lead 6-1.
After a scoreless fifth inning, the Wildcats exploded for seven runs in the top of the sixth inning to lead 13-1.
Swain was only able to score two runs in the bottom of the sixth and the Wildcats secured the 13-3 victory to remain undefeated.

After the Wildcats return from spring break, they will play a four-game week that features their last non-conference matchup of the season.
They will kick off the week at home at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday by facing in-county rivals Murphy.
They will hit the road on Thursday, April 16, as they take on Copper Basin, Tenn., in a double header. The first game is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.
They will end the week by traveling to Murphy to take on the Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, April 17.
