Dockery on second team; only 1A player
Murphy – Lady Bulldogs volleyball senior libero Cailey Dockery was named second team All-State by HighSchoolOT, a website covering high school sports in the state run by WRAL in Raleigh. The site consulted with 20 reporters across North Carolina to select this year’s team.
Dockery was the only 1A player named to an All-State team, while four other 1A players were named honorable mention. However, Dockery was the only All-State selection to come from a traditional public school. She served as the Lady Bulldogs’ defensive backbone this season, with a team-high 443 digs.
Murphy finished the season with a 23-3 record, going undefeated in Big Smoky Mountain Conference regular season play on its way to a fifth straight regular season conference title, then advancing to the 1A Western Regional Final for the first time since 2011. Dockery will continue her volleyball career at the University of Notre Dame next fall.
