The final full week of the 2025 Cherokee/Clay Senior Games kicked off with bocce ball and wrapped up with a day of badminton.
Participants looked to add to their medal total in the final full week of Senior Games festivities as the games wind down.
Bocce
At Konehete Veterans Park in Murphy, the first of four bocce events were held. On May 19, mixed doubles competition got underway, avoiding the rain that fell later that day.
Earning gold in the mixed doubles bocce were the teams of Kemberly Martin/Todd Yost, Robin Alessi/Steve Gutierrez, Jill Dash/Rick Alringer, Pam Blashke/Michael Wilkins, Margaret Smith/Ray Smith and Susan Dobbins/Jackie Dobbins.
Earning silver medals were the teams of Lenore Berlinski/Mark Berlinski, Michele Preisser/Gary Preisser, Lori Coy/Bob Martin and Marcia Dones/Dan Dones. Earning bronze medals were Donna Bennett/Rick Bennett, Mary Jane Gutierrez/Alan Gutierrez and Chris Faries/Terence Faries.
On the morning of May 20, the second day of bocce competition kicked off with doubles.
Earning gold medals in women’s doubles were the teams of Kathy Fergusen/Marion Severy, Robin Alessi/Jill Dash, Lori Coy/Terence Faries and Marcia Dones/Marilyn Ogden. Earning silver medals
were the teams of Michele Preisser/Linda Knowles and Margaret Smith/Suzan Grinarlm. Earning a bronze medals was the team of Gina Horn/Jenny Turner.
Earning gold medals in men’s doubles were the teams of Jack Barnes/Michael Wilkins, Larry Clouse/Vann Harrell and Rick Alringer/Gary Preisser. Earning silver medals were the teams of Joe Tanno/Mike Crubaugh and Terence Faries/Ray Smith. Earning a bronze medal was the team of Simon Childs/Dan Dones.
Following doubles bocce was men’s singles. Earning gold medals were Donnie Hallman, Jack Barnes, Joe Tanno and Terence Faries. Earning silver medals were Steve Gutierrez, Paul Craig, Vann Harrell and Gary Preisser. Earning bronze medals were Bart Harrison, Mike Crubaugh and David Robinson.
Women’s singles bocce was delayed to Thursday morning due to rain. Earning gold medals were Kathy Ferguson, Joy Dockery, Marcia Dones, Ruth Harris and Marilyn Ogden.
Earning silver medals were Melissa Watson, Pam Blaschke, Margaret Smith and Norma Kemp. Earning bronze were Carla Davis, Jenny Turner and Nancy Frahmann.
Golf
On Thursday afternoon, Senior Games golfers took on Mountain Harbour Golf Club in Hayesville.
Earning gold medals were Tony Povinelli, Donnie Hallman, Scott Johnson, Bill Battle, Don Jones and Carla Davis.
Earning silver medals were Thomas Davis, Mick Wilkins and Jack Frahmann. Earning bronze were Jack Barnes and Johnnie Smith.
Despite Johnson, Davis and Barnes shooting the same score in their age group, the medals were awarded based on the Senior Games tie breaker rules of back nine scoring. The same rule applies for Wilkins and Smith shooting the same score and earning silver and bronze, respectively.
Air rifle target shooting
It was the men’s turn to take on the air rifle target shooting competition Thursday. Earning gold medals were Jon Jordan, Fitch Hasbrouck, Bill Battle Ray Smith and Jerry Leslie.
Earning silver medals were Vann Harrell, Terence Fares and John Sias. Bob Martin and Dan Dones earned bronze medals.
Badminton
Friday was a day full of badminton competition at the Murphy Rock Gym to wrap up the fourth of the 2025 Senior Games.
Earning gold medals in women’s singles were Georgina Morolla and Jill Dash. Earning silver were Melissa Watson and Michele Preisser.
Earning gold medals in men’s singles were Mark Berlinski, Fitch Hasbrouck, Michael Wilkins and Rock Alringer. Earning silver were Jon Jordan, Alan Gutierrez, Joe Tanno and Gary Preisser. Earning bronze was Tony Schneidt.
Earning gold medals in women’s doubles were the teams of Melissa Watson/Jill Dash and Michele Preisser/Linda Knowles. The team of Sabrina Clinard/Lori Coy won silver.
Earning gold in men’s doubles were the teams of Jon Jordan/Fitch Hasbrouck and Alan Gutierrez/Rick Alringer. Earning silver were the teams of Mark Berlinski/Gary Preisser and Jack Barnes/Michael Wilkins. Earning bronze was the team of Bart Harrison/Tony Schneidt.
In mixed doubles competition, winning gold were the teams of Melissa Watson/Mark Berlinski and Jill Dash/Rick Alringer. Earning silver medals were the teams of Sabrina Clinard/Jon Jordan and Linda Knowles/Fitch Hasbrouck. Earning bronze medals was the team of Lori Coy/Alan Gutierrez.

Saturday at 5 p.m. will be the closing ceremony at Tri-County Community College’s Enloe Auditorium in Peachtree. Tickets are $5 for participants, $15 for guests.
