Justin Fitzgerald/sports@cherokeescout.com Andrews athletics retired the No. 82 jersey of Butch Sursavage prior to the Wildcats’ home football game against North Georgia on Friday night. Sursavage, who graduated from Andrews High School in 1964, helped the Wildcats win the Class A Region 4 championship in 1963. He went on to play at Clemson University, where he was named first team-All Atlantic Coast Conference in 1965 and 1966, helping the Tigers win three straight conference titles from 1965-67.

No more EMS fee to assist citizens

Body “I’ve been contacted by several residents of the county, and in particular a few veterans, who have asked if this board would consider waiving the $100 citizen assist fee for the veterans of the county,” Commissioner Jan Griggs said.

School board names Woody superintendent

Thunder rolls on Trail of Tears
