Andrews fires town clerk

Body Andrews – The Andrews Board of Aldermen terminated Natasha Whitaker as the town’s clerk and tax collector, naming finance officer Ethan McCubbin to fill in during the interim.

Animal shelter hires new manager

Body Marble – The Valley River Humane Society has hired a new shelter manager, the first since the sudden death earlier this year of Kirsty Waller, the previous shelter manager.

Body The board re-entered open session, during which Ricks was allowed to state her side in public. She spoke for more than 35 minutes. Notably absent was Griggs, who had been present earlier in the meeting and later when the board adjourned for the day.

1 local man’s work nothing short of amazing 

Body Ranger Johnny Martin does not act his age. Born in Violet in 1951 with the help of a midwife, the 72-year-old still works just a hard as any man half his age.
