This week’s question: U.S. Rep. Claudia Tenney (R-N.Y.) has introduced the “Trump’s Birthday & Flag Day Holiday Establishment Act,” which proposes making June 14, which is President Donald Trump’s birthday and Flag Day a permanent federal holiday. Should Congress approve this additional paid time off?

  • Yes, this is a good reason for a paid day off.
  • No, we already have too many holidays.

.

“No. We already have a Presidents’Day that celebrates all the presidents, and that would include Donald J. Trump. We don’t need to have another bank holiday, federal holiday or holiday period on the books.”

“No, we already have Presidents’ Day to celebrate every president. I voted for him, but I still don’t think that’s necessary. I know he loves himself, but he doesn’t need his own individual day. We already have Memorial Day, Veterans Day and the Fourth of July to celebrate our country. We have some great presidents, and they don’t have their own day.”

“To be honest, it would be another government holiday, and I don’t get paid days off, so I don’t really care about it.”

“I’d agree with it if it were just Flag Day for something to represent the United States, and I voted for him. I feel like more employers would give the paid day off if it were just Flag Day, and not bring the politics into it and the workplace.”

“I don’t think we need anymore holidays, especially not on his birthday, I think it’s weird. They don’t have it for every single president, and there’s a lot of debate around him. There’s enough holidays, and each holiday has history behind it, so there’s not really a good reason for it.”
