Murphy – Shepherd of the Mountains Church is inviting everyone to come out and see a production put on by the students of Shepherd Academy.
Shepherd Academy at 68 Fairfax Drive has 42 students enrolled in the private school. The event will be 6 p.m. Thursday, April 30. The entry fee for Night at the Theater will be by donation.
Students will perform dances and musical clips from well-known movies in front of hand-painted backdrops for each scene.
"I was honored to be asked to assist in painting two of the six backdrops for Shepherd Academy's musical," said Sammi Crow, who attends Shepherd of the Mountains.
"The kids have all worked so hard on this; from the practice sessions to the costumes. The whole school is involved, this musical will be inspired, melodious, engaging and fun."
The event is a fundraiser and is especially important as the proceeds will go toward constructing a new building on church property.
Students from kindergarten through 12th grades will benefit from the enlarged school. The addition willl allow for increased enrollment.
Groundbreaking for the new building is expected in the near future with a projected completion by the 2027-28 school year.
The building project is completely supported by tuition and donations.
