Stephenson retires after 17 years at local church

  • Church of Christ minister Roy Stephenson has retired after 17 years of service at the Murphy church. He and his wife, D.J., are moving to Tennessee.
    Church of Christ minister Roy Stephenson has retired after 17 years of service at the Murphy church. He and his wife, D.J., are moving to Tennessee.

    Murphy – Roy Stephenson has retired from 17 years of ministry at Murphy Church of Christ.  

    Stephenson and his wife, Doris Jane (D.J.), will be moving to Tennessee. 

    Stephenson is a graduate of Harding University and Harding School of Theology. He has ministered to churches in Texas, Mississippi, Louisiana, Missouri, Florida, Georgia, Tennessee and North Carolina. 

    Stephenson has taught a Bible study class at the Cherokee County Senior Center in Murphy for the past 14 years. He has also been a part of the EKG barbershop quartet for 11 years.

    Stephenson and D.J. have both been a part of the Andrews Lions Club for the past 10 years.

    They will be missed by their friends and family.
