Sheriff adds new deputy

Sheriff Chris Wood welcomed the newest member of the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, Deputy Jake Boring, during a swearing-in ceremony.

Boring took the oath of office with his family present alongside Wood for the occasion. A second-generation law enforcement officer, Boring is following in the footsteps of his father, a veteran N.C. Highway Patrol trooper.

Boring will begin field training as he prepares to attend Basic Law Enforcement Training in July.
