- Peachtree Haunted House: The annual good time at 1046 N.C. 141 is back for another hauntin’ season of scares from 6:30-9 p.m. (or whenever the last victim enters) Friday and Saturday, Oct. 24-25, as well as Wednesday through Friday, Oct. 29-31. - Stage Fright: Ghost stories will be told at the Peacock Performing Arts Center, 301 Church St. in Hayesville, at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25. There will also be howling spooky songs, tricky treats and tasty treats. Details: Visit thepeacocknc.org.
- Andrews First Baptist Church: A free trunk of treat will be held from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 29, at 1636 Main St. There will be food, snow cones, inflatables, games and candy. Details: Visit andrewsfbc.org.
- Shepherd of the Mountains: A free trunk of treat will be held from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 30, at 68 Fairfax Drive. Bring the kids out in their costumes and enjoy food, fun and plenty of candy. Details: Visit shepherdchurchnc.com.
- Haunts & Harvest: Storytelling night at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 30, at the Cherokee County Arts Coalition, 33 Valley River Ave. in downtown Murphy, will feature six amazing storytellers sharing spooky Appalachian stories. There will be refreshments and the fun event is free, but seating is limited, so make sure to reserve a ticket. Details: Visit cherokeeartscouncil.org.
- Dungeon of Doom: This is your last chance to see the legendary haunted house from Thursday, Oct. 30, through Saturday, Nov. 1, at the Valleytown Cultural Arts Center, 125 Chestnut St. in downtown Andrews. Admission is $10. Details: Visit vcahs.com.
- A Murphy Haunting: From 4-7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 31, costumed children will patrol the sidewalks downtown in search of treats from local businesses and individuals. Volunteers will help direct pedestrians at all crosswalks to keep everyone safe at the free annual event. Details: Visit townofmurphync.com.
- Andrews Trunk of Treat: From 4-6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 31, costumed children will patrol streets downtown in search of treats from local businesses and individuals set up on Main Street, which will be closed to traffic from 3:30-6:30 p.m. The free annual event is sponsored by the Andrews Chamber of Commerce. - Block Party: A get-together is planned from 5-9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 31, at the Valleytown Cultural Arts Center, 125 Chestnut St. in downtown Andrews, co-sponsored by the Community Youth Players. There will be candy, vendors and more. Details: Visit vcahs.com.
- ‘The Medium:’ The Young Harris (Ga.) College Department of Music will present a short, two-act opera by Gian Carlo Menotti on Friday, Oct. 31, at 7 p.m. and 10 p.m., then one more performance Saturday, Nov. 1, at 3 p.m. Details: Tickets can be reserved at cognitoforms.com/YoungHarrisCollege1/TheMedium.
- Andrews door to door: There will be homes happily handing out candy Halloween night on Main Street, Walnut Street, Chestnut Street, Sixth Street, Bristol Avenue, Wells Street, Walker Street, Connahetta Avenue, Payne Street and the historical Walker Inn on Junaluska Road.
- Murphy door to door: The neighborhood including Duke Street and areas surrounding Connahetta Street and Valley River Avenue are expected to be alive with trick or treaters into the evening hours Halloween night. In past years, some houses have given away more than 1,000 pieces of candy.
- A Spooky Halloween Dance: High school students are invited to strut your stuff at a Halloween dance from 7:30-11 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1. Dress up if you want to compete for best costume. Admission is $20 at the Brasstown Community Center, 255 Settawig Road. Details: Call 828-644-4132.
