  • Andrews First Baptist Church: A free trunk of treat will be held from 6-8 p.m. today at 1636 Main St. There will be food, snow cones, inflatables, games and candy. Details: Visit andrewsfbc.org.
  • Mount Pleasant Baptist Church: The congregation at 50 Marvin Cabe Lane in Hayesville will hold its annual Fall Festival in the gym behind the church building from 6-8 p.m. today. There will be games, food and candy galore.
  • Blue Ridge Mountain Electric Membership Corp.: The utility is hosting a free trunk of treat at 875 Main St. in Young Harris, Ga., from 4:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday. There will be costumes, candy and spooky fun for all.
  • Shepherd of the Mountains: A free trunk of treat will be held from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at 68 Fairfax Drive. Bring the kids out in their costumes and enjoy food, fun and plenty of candy. Details: Visit shepherdchurchnc.com.
  • Haunts & Harvest: Storytelling night at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Cherokee County Arts Coalition, 33 Valley River Ave. in downtown Murphy, will feature six amazing storytellers sharing spooky Appalachian stories. There will be refreshments and the fun event is free, but seating is limited, so make sure to reserve a ticket. Details: Visit cherokeeartscouncil.org.
  • Dungeon of Doom: The second annual haunted house will be open for frights and delights from 6-9 p.m. Thursday through Saturday at the Valleytown Cultural Arts Center, 125 Chestnut St. in downtown Andrews. Admission is $10. Details: Visit vcahs.com.
  • Lifetime Kia: The automobile dealership on U.S. 64 West in Murphy is hosting a Candyland–themed trunk or treat from 1-6 p.m. Friday. Everyone is invited to the free event.
  • Andrews Farmers Market: There will be treats and eats freely given away from 4-7 p.m. Friday in the former A&P parking lot on Main Street.
  • A Murphy Haunting: From 4-7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 31, costumed children will patrol the sidewalks downtown in search of treats from local businesses and individuals. Volunteers will help direct pedestrians at all crosswalks to keep everyone safe at the free annual event. Details: Visit townofmurphync.com.
  • Andrews Trunk of Treat: From 4-6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 31, costumed children will patrol the streets downtown in search of treats from local businesses and individuals set up on Main Street, which will be closed to traffic from 3:30-6:30 p.m. The free annual event is sponsored by the Andrews Chamber of Commerce.   • Block Party: A get-together is planned from 5-9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 31, at the Valleytown Cultural Arts Center, 125 Chestnut St. in downtown Andrews, co-sponsored by the Community Youth Players. There will be a DJ, candy, vendors and more. Details: Visit vcahs.com.
  • The Medium: The Young Harris (Ga.) College Department of Music will present a short, two-act opera by Gian Carlo Menotti at 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. Friday, then at 3 p.m. Saturday. Details: Tickets can be reserved at cognitoforms.com/YoungHarrisCollege1/TheMedium.
  • Andrews door to door: There will be homes happily handing out candy Friday night on Halloween along Main Street, Walnut Street, Chestnut Street, Sixth Street, Bristol Avenue, Wells Street, Walker Street, Connahetta Avenue, Payne Street and the historical Walker Inn on Junaluska Road.
  • Murphy door to door: The popular neighborhood including Duke Street and areas surrounding Connahetta Street and Valley River Avenue are expected to once again be alive with trick or treaters into the evening hours Friday for Halloween. In past years, houses have given away more than 1,000 pieces of candy.
  • A Spooky Halloween Dance: All high school students are invited to strut your stuff at a Halloween dance from 7:30-11 p.m. Saturday. Dress up if you want to compete for best costume. Admission is $20 at the Brasstown Community Center, 255 Settawig Road. Details: Call 828-644-4132.
