I am a lifelong resident of Cherokee County. My husband, Johnny Chastain, and I have lived in the Town of Murphy for the past 26 years. I am retired from the State of North Carolina, where I worked for N.C. Cooperative Extension for 30 years.
Johnny and I have a daughter and a son, who both reside in Murphy with their spouses. We have four grandchildren, three who are students at Murphy schools.
I was appointed to the town council in 2023, and it has been an absolute pleasure to work alongside the current council members. I am proud of the progress and accomplishments we have made together thus far.
I have also served as secretary for the Murphy Business Association for the past two years, assisting them with the planning of the Spring Festival, among other projects.
Change is inevitable,
but with change, I would like to continue to work with other council members and town leaders to create a legacy that future generations will inherit with pride. I continue to aspire to assist in building a town where our children and grandchildren can enjoy a prosperous, sustainable and fulfilling life, surrounded by the beauty of nature and the warmth of a united community where residents of all ages feel proud to call home.
I understand that if elected to the Murphy Town Council, I will be expected to fulfill my responsibilities to the best of my ability, uphold the values and integrity of the town and prioritize the welfare of its residents.
I look forward to serving the residents of the Town of Murphy if elected to this position.
