Harris: ‘I want to advocate for the residents of Murphy’
By Kimberly Harris, Candidate for Murphy Town Council
.
I would like to serve as a member of your town council because I care deeply about the place that my family calls home.
I was born in Cherokee County in Andrews, when the hospital there was still in operation. I grew up with a large family. My mother was raised in Marble and she has seven siblings, many of whom still reside in Cherokee County. My father grew up in Hanging Dog and has five siblings. My sister and I spent our childhood in the Peachtree area, and I attended Murphy Middle and Murphy High schools.
After graduating high school, I proudly served in the U.S. Army as an intelligence analyst for four years while earning my undergraduate degree. Following that, I pursued my dream at Wake Forest University School of Law, where I was determined to become a lawyer, with aspirations of being a prosecutor.
My husband and I moved back to Murphy in 2018. I took a job as an assistant district attorney that same year and, although I have cases in many counties, I spend most of my days at the courthouse in Murphy.
Throughout my career, my mission has always been to pursue justice, and now I want to advocate for the residents of Murphy. I am committed to representing the best interests of the
community that I hope to serve.
When I moved back home I was shocked at how different Murphy was. This town continues to grow and change. I want to be a part of the good to come.
Thank you for your time and consideration. I sincerely hope that you will support me in the upcoming election for a position on the town council.
