The first Daffodil Festival will begin with an Easter egg hunt and games for kids from 11 a.m. to noon, followed by food and fellowship from 12:30-2 p.m.
Unaka – The Unaka Community Development Club is hosting the first Daffodil Festival focused on fun, fellowship and food Saturday at the community center, 14945 Joe Brown Highway.
Unaka Baptist Church will be sponsoring an Easter egg hunt, along with a variety of games for kids of all ages to enjoy, at the old ball field behind the Unaka Community Center from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday.
At the same time, High Lonesome Therapeutic Equestrian Center will be surprising kids with a visit from the Easter Bunny, ready to play and take photos.
From 12:30-2 p.m., guests can enjoy sandwiches and salads provided by the club, chips provided by High Lonesome, drinks provided by the Unaka Volunteer Fire Department and desserts provided by Ogreeta Baptist Church.
This event is a combined effort of multiple communities in northern Cherokee County, churches and volunteers to bring a fun Easter celebration for the kids and a springtime fellowship for everyone.
“We really hope that some of the daffodils will make it through this weather to give us all a glimpse of the spring we’re celebrating,” said Holly Willis, president of the Unaka Community Development Club.
