Benefit set Saturday for Silas Morrow and family

Body

Andrews – A benefit will be held from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday at A&J’s Adventures & More Auction for Silas Morrow and family to help with medical care and travel.

The benefit will start with a yard sale, food and other vendors. The Sundown Band will play from 2-6 p.m., and there will also be a visit from Moonshiners Huck and Mark from noon-2 p.m.

Baby Silas was born prematurely in November 2024 and spent his first 241 days in the hospital. Diagnosed with an underdeveloped airway, otherwise known as esophageal atresia, which consists of his having to be connected to a mechanical ventilator.

Silas also requires a tracheotomy tube to breathe and a feeding tube for nutrition. Silas requires 24-hour care – provided by his mother, Julie – while his father, Adam, works full time. They also have two other children, Brayden and Samuel.

The benefit is to help provide for the costs associated with Silas’ medical supply care, much of which is not covered by standard health insurance. That includes the family’s travel expenses to Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville as well as their monthly visits to Mission Hospital in Asheville.
