Andrews – Friends of the Andrews Public Library will hold the first of a series of monthly fundraisers with a Chili Bingo Night from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 4.
After their recent hot dog dinner and raffle at A&J Adventure & More Auction in August, Friends of the Library President Kelly Bryant said the group is looking to add more activities to increase interest in the group and what the local library has to offer.
“We raised a little over $600 in August and we’re excited about our fall and winter activities,” she said. “Our bingo game will feature prizes and our own Jeff Murphy’s award-winning chili, along with cornbread and dessert.”
Those activities include passing out trick or treat bags during this week’s Trunk or Treat and a special make-and-take craft from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, for adults and children which will feature both wreath making and building your own peanut butter bird feeder.
Bryant said the group plans to hold a monthly dinner or event. It is also featuring holiday T-shirts for sale for everyone excited to get “booked for the holidays” before Christmas.
She added that this initiative ties in with the Nantahala Regional Library’s slogan of being “Relentlessly Resourceful” by inviting the public to see everything their local library offers.
The chili night features plates for $10, along with bingo cards for $10 each or three for $25. There will also be cards for ages 16 and under for $5. The fundraiser will feature a wide variety of prizes donated by Annette Palmer of A&J Adventure.
Proceeds will directly benefit Friends of the Andrews Public Library, which provides additional support for the purchase of books, DVDs and other materials for the local branch.
