Andrews Christmas season in full swing this week

Andrews – Christmas kicks off in The Valley this week with a flurry of activities which will warm you up during the upcoming forecast cold weekend.

On Friday, Dec. 12, the Town of Andrews holds its annual Grinch Night at 188 Main St. There will be cookies and hot cocoa, pictures with The Grinch while supplies last and each child attending will be entered to win a raffle giveaway. Children are also urged to bring their letters to Santa to the event to receive a special surprise from the North Pole with a return address provided on their envelopes.

Newly opened clothing boutique Oakley Lane, 1016 Main St., will also be having a pajama party Friday, Dec. 12. The party will run from 6-8:30 p.m. and have hot cocoa and snacks, while offering opportunities for local downtown shopping while sporting your coziest pajamas.

Friday also sees the premiere of the ACT2 Players’ performance of A Christmas Carol: A Live Radio Show at 7 p.m. The show is also a dessert show. Tickets are $25 for adults and $15 for children and seniors.

Set 100 years after Charles Dickens’ beloved classic the show features seasoned veterans of ACT2’s troupe live from WACT radio at the Valleytown Cultural Arts Center, 125 Chestnut St. Another show will also be held after the Andrews Christmas Parade at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

Before the parade, the Community Youth Players will hold their holiday matinee performance of A Charlie Brown Holiday, which features scenes from all your favorite holidays, including Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s, and features a cast of 12 performing. The matinee begins at 3 p.m.

Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for children and seniors. There will also be another matinee at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 14.

Saturday, Dec. 13, sees the annual Andrews Christmas Parade stroll Main Street beginning at 6:15 p.m. This year’s theme is A Gingerbread Christmas.

And at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 14, the second annual Community Christmas Party will take place at A&J Adventure & More Auction, 13950 U.S. 19. Everyone is welcome; there will be gifts for children, food will be provided, and Santa and Mrs. Claus are scheduled to stop by.
