Andrews – The Andrews Board of Aldermen voted 2-1 Monday night to oust newly elected Alderwoman Chasity Ledford as mayor pro tempore.
In less than three months in the position, Alderman James Mclean made a motion to offer the position to the other newly elected alderman, Heath Woodard.
The vote ran Mclean and Alderman Ted Paul in favor of offering the position to Woodard. Woodard made a motion to abstain from the vote, and Ledford voted against the motion.
“I feel like Chasity has a learning curve to meet that she hasn’t yet,” Mayor James Reid said. “It’s nothing against her and it’s just the board’s decision right now.”
Ledford said this came as “a complete surprise to me. As the top vote-getter who has always held the position, I feel like I earned the role.”
