GOLF Rotary Club tourney set

The 2021 Golf Tournament of Champions sponsored by the Rotary Club of Murphy will tee off at 9 a.m. Saturday, May 8, at Mountain Harbor Golf Club in Hayesville.

The format is a two-player Captain’s Choice and cost $200 per team, which includes green and cart fees. Appropriate golf attire must be worn. Team fees will go toward payouts estimated to be from $600 for first place to $100 for seventh.

Sponsors are needed for the Rotary Club to raise money for youth scholarships and supporting good causes in the community. Sponsorships start at $75 for a sign all the way up to a Platinum Sponsor for $2,000.

Ladies league at the Shores

The Chatuge Shores Ladies Golf League started preseason Tuesday at Chatuge Shores Golf Course in Hayesville.

Tee times during preseason start at 10 a.m. with a shotgun start. During April, anyone can play without joining the league. 

The league has 20 members from throughout the tri-county area. The course fee is $27, which includes a cart.

FISHING - Tournament in Fontana

The Fontana Spring Classic Fishing Tournament will be held Saturday and Sunday in Graham County.

There is a $5,000 guaranteed payout for first place. The entry fee is $150.

HUNTING - Safety class starts today

There will be a two-night N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission hunter safety class from 6-9 p.m. today and Thursday at Tri-County Community College in Peachtree.
