Wolf Creek – A woman’s remains were found inside a travel-trailer that was destroyed in a fire on OCD Ranch Lane on Sept. 12.
Cherokee County sheriff’s Lt. Nathan Henderson said authorities believe they know the identify of the dead person and are waiting for the State Bureau of Investigation crime lab to conduct a DNA analysis to confirm their suspicions.
The victim was described as a white woman from the general area. She was staying in a friend’s camper that evening off OCD Ranch Lane.
The fire began early that morning. The cause is unknown.
The camper’s owner was out of town, and it is believed that the woman had no other guests that night. Henderson said it is not believed that there was foul play.
He said the remains were found after the fire was put out and emergency responders left the scene. The owner was sorting through the burned structure when he spotted the remains.
