Ellijay, Ga. – A two-year investigation into two Murphy, N.C., drug traffickers culminated in their arrest across the state line, according to a release.

A joint operation between narcotics agents with the Cherokee County (N.C.) Sheriff’s Office, Union County Sheriff’s Office, Fannin County Sheriff’s Office and Gilmer County Sheriff’s Office came to a close Thursday with the arrest of Scott Decasper and Juliana Perry, both of Cherokee County, N.C.
Agents from each agency conducted a vehicle stop on Decasper and Perry in Gilmer County on Thursday, and information was received that the subjects had traveled to Georgia to pick up methamphetamine to bring back to Cherokee County. During the stop, Investigators with Gilmer County’s Crime Suppression Unit found more than 10 ounces of methamphetamine within the vehicle.

As a result, Decasper and Perry were both placed under arrest without incident and confined in the Gilmer County Detention Center under no bond. Both have been charged with trafficking methamphetamine and various other offenses, the release says.
Cherokee County sheriff’s officials would like to extend their appreciation to the Fannin, Gilmer and Union county sheriff’s offices for their help, and commend them on a job well done.
