Murphy – A Blairsville, Ga., man with ties to Murphy was arrested on eight criminal counts over a weeklong series of conflicts with residents of Gwenmont Circle apartments.
Daniel Evans Rogers, 45, with addresses in Blairsville and Murphy, was arrested on Sept. 9 and booked on charges of going armed to terror of people, disorderly conduct, assault with a deadly weapon and communicating threats on Sept. 3; assault on a female on Sept. 4; obtain property through false pretense on Sept. 5; and communication threats and misdemeanor stalking on Sept. 8.
Secured bond of $8,500 was set for the terror charge, assault on a female, and assault with a deadly weapon. Unsecured bond of $1,500 was set for communicating threats and obtaining property by false pretense.

On Sept. 3, Rogers allegedly armed to the terror of people and disorderly conduct. He allegedly wielded a golf club while assaulting others, communicating threats, yelling/cursing and beating a vehicle in the PVA of Gwenmont Circle apartments in Murphy – as well as the sidewalk and open grassy area, where he allegedly scared/terrified several residents, according to court records.
On Sept. 4, Rogers allegedly assaulted and stalked a woman with his fists clenched/balled in a manner that made her believe that he was intent on assaulting her.
He also constantly knocked on the woman’s door around the clock, making accusations toward her on multiple occasions, getting in her face and attempting to speak with her on multiple occasions, following her from her apartment toward her vehicle making gestures – pointing at his eyes then back at her, balling/clenching fists as if to attack her – engage in a course of conduct directed at the woman stemming from August through Sept. 8.
“The defendant knew and should have known that the harassment, course of conduct would cause a reasonable person to fear for the person’s safety or the safety of the person’s immediate family, suffer substantial emotional distress by placing that person in fear of bodily injury, continued harassment, according to court records.
The obtaining false pretense charge occurred on or about Sept. 5 in Cherokee County, when Rogers allegedly ran up $739 in charges on another person’s bank card.
