The Cherokee County Republican Party, in partnership with the Cherokee Scout and Local TV 4, is pleased to announce two nights of candidate debate forums for all Cherokee County GOP candidates.
The forums will take place at 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 5, and Friday, Feb. 6, at the Cherokee County Courthouse in downtown Murphy. Here’s the schedule:
- Feb. 5 – Candidates for the Cherokee County Board of Commissioners, clerk of court and register of deeds.
- Feb. 6 – Candidates for the Cherokee County Board of Education and sheriff.
“These forums provide an important opportunity for voters to hear directly from candidates about the issues that matter most in the community,” said Mark Kephart, chair of the Cherokee County GOP. “Candidates who are unopposed will also be given time to introduce themselves and respond to a limited number of questions submitted by voters.
These events are intended to promote transparency, civic engagement and informed decision-making for Cherokee County voters. Email questions, which must apply to all of the candidates in each individual race, to dbrown@cherokeescout.com.
“With this year being such an important election, we’re happy to partner with the local party and television station to get firsthand information before voters,” said David Brown, publisher of the Scout and moderator of the Feb. 5 political forums.
Ralph Robinson of TV4 will be the moderator of the Feb. 6 political forums.
In addition, Cherokee County residents will have multiple opportunities in February to meet local candidates, ask questions and engage in meaningful conversations about issues impacting the community.
The Cherokee County Republican Party has scheduled three candidate meet-and-greet events, giving voters the chance to hear from candidates and connect with them in a relaxed, community-focused setting.
“These events are a great opportunity for both candidates and their constituents,” Kephart said. “They allow for open conversation, questions and a chance for voters to really get to know the candidates seeking to represent them.”
Here’s the schedule:
- Monday, Feb. 9, 6-8 p.m. – P.B. Ferebee Community Center, 535 Main St. in Andrews.
- Tuesday, Feb. 10, 5:30-7:30 p.m. – Murphy Public Library, 9 Blumenthal St. downtown.
