Murphy – Black Friday deals were clearly evident last week, with long lines filled with excited folks ready to get inside the stores and shop for big savings.
Lowe’s offered a free 5-gallon bucket filled with store goodies to the first 50 people in line who were Rewards Customers. Some folks were up in the wee hours of Friday morning getting ready to take the early morning trip to the home improvement and hardware store. Snagging freebies was motivation enough for some people to brave the early hours of the cold morning.
Local resident Kerbin Garcia only slept two hours prior to getting up to go to Lowe’s.
“I wanted to see all the good sales,” he said. “My son-in-law and daughter told me about the bucket deal.”
One lucky winner found a gold ticket inside her bucket that awarded her with $2,000 toward any appliance up to that amount. Her scream of excitement could be heard a few isles over.
Customers were treated to hot chocolate, coffee and cookies. They were also warmed up under large heaters employees brought out to help keep folks warm until the store opened.
Cherokee Guns offered the first 25 customers through the door free ammo with the purchase of specially priced guns as part of special deals on Black Friday. The line extended from the inside counter, out the doors and around the back of the store.
The energy was high with excitement and was somewhat reminiscent of Black Fridays from years gone by. Early hours, long lines and fun conversations with complete strangers, all looking to make someone’s Christmas brighter.
