Politics is definitely not most local folks’ favorite contact sport, at least not as long as college football is played, but there’s a right way and a wrong way to play the game. The right way is to be open and transparent, which is what Cherokee County is doing over the next week.
The Cherokee Scout, Cherokee County Republican Party and Local TV4 are hosting political forums Thursday and Friday this week, while the party is hosting meet-and-greet events Monday through Wednesday next week. The partnership is designed to give voters as much information about the candidates as possible before the primary election Tuesday, March 3. (Page 11A.)
Come fall, the Scout will return with another round of political forums before the general election Tuesday, Nov. 4. With upcoming elections vital to the future of county, it’s nice to know voters have ample opportunities to get to know all of the people on the ballot before pushing the digital buttons.
