Spring in Cherokee County, which officially starts Friday, is a season of vibrant renewal, offering a near-perfect blend of blossoming mountain landscapes, community festivities and prime conditions for outdoor exploration as far-western North Carolina wakes from its winter nap.
From fishing in the cool, oxygen-rich waters of the Hiwassee and Valley rivers to hiking in the Nantahala National Forest to taking scenic drives in and around the county, there is no shortage of great outdoors to explore. Bird watchers, deer lovers and squirrel feeders celebrate the warmth of the season.
The local event season kicks off with three straight weeks of fun under the sun, starting with Welcome Home Veterans at Western Carolina Regional Airport in Andrews on Saturday, April 18, and the Spring Fling in downtown Andrews on Saturday, April 25. Then there’s the first Murphy Art Walk of the year Friday, May 1, and the Spring Festival in downtown Murphy on Saturday, May 2.
If you’re not making plans to enjoy the spring in Cherokee County, why not?
